Hello INspiration Nation!
I hope everyone is enjoying their first kick-off to summer. Whether you’re enjoying the beach, the pool, the mountains or a backyard BBQ, it’s important to truly remember that this holiday isn’t just about picnics. It’s about remembering those who fought, those who were forced to fight and lose their lives for our freedom. As a peace activist, it’s hard for me to wrap my brain around the gratitude required for this holiday without some frustration. As the daughter of a Viet Nam Vet, it’s easy for me to find the compassion.
For the past few weeks, the Brian Lehrer Show on WNYC has been running a series called The End of War. Last week, an Iraq War Veteran, Paul Chappell, who also happens to be the author of the book, Peaceful Revolution: How We can Create the Future Needed for Humanity’s Survival and the Peace Leadership Director of Nuclear Age Peace Foundation was on the show. I was really resistant at first, because his whole premise basically is that war is born of love. It’s hard to really wrap your brain around. Anyway, if you have time, give it a listen. It’s extremely thought provoking, especially on a day like today, when we pause to remember those that gave their lives for our freedom.
Pause in gratitude for those that have served and lost their lives. Continue to INspire Peace and welcome the summer season in!
Nancy is in Jamaica right now. On vacation with her hubby. I am not only jealous, but a little lost without her. As you can presume, working so closely with someone for so long, you not only tend to be attached at the hip, but you also tend to share the same brain. Nancy and I have a little bit of both going on there. But while Nancy is gone, I have some new INspiration Nation Bloggers to keep me company!
That’s right we’re welcoming more amazing women blogger to the Living INside Out Blog. You will continue to be entertained and engaged by the writing of Corinne, Tatum, Amanda, Nancy and myself. Carolyn is taking a little time off (because she’s having a baby!!) but you can always connect with Carolyn through her own blog, Eat Well. Live. Well. Be Well. Even though Carolyn is stepping aside, we have lots of amazing women to fill her shoes! You can all look forward to in the next few months is contribution from some new, amazing women including Lauren Forney, Tisha Lin, Tara Mauger, Patty Sherry, and Taraleigh Weathers.
There really is nothing greater than connecting with other women. Empowered, energetic, compassionate women that want to change the world. We can accomplish so much when we stand together, support one another in life and in laughter. And really, that’s what Live. Breathe. Grow. is all about. It’s our essence. Education. INspiration. Transformation. We believe within every woman lies the power and poise to foster a more peaceful community. When a woman realizes her own strength she has the ability to change the world because her power is rooted in love. That’s crazy powerful, right? It gives me goose bumps….and it’s a little sneak preview of the metamorphosis LBG is going through this summer. Get ready for awesome changes and amazing announcements.
Happy Memorial Day!
